Choosing the front-end output

1) Would it one day be possible to choose which of the submitted data to publish? The data can be submitted, but is not publicly viewable? (or at least not to others than the admin)

2) I was thinking that some function to manually link a field to the data in an existing sql table, would be great. That way we could read/write users we have and even save forms as articles directly and so on. Just a way of picking whatever table entry in the database there is and have the option to added to it or remove entries. A direct global approach like this one would certainly very useful.
