Form Description not formating

Postby w2kd » Thu Sep 03, 2009 12:19 pm

When I enter any formating eg pharagraph line spaces between text, it seem to be removed when I save the form. Eg all the entered text ends up as one line.

This is not happening anywhere else in the Joomla system only on the CK form description.

I have JCE as my editor but I have try to switch back to the standard one with the same result.

Is there a configuration that I have missed?

Hi w2kd,

The formatting works for me. I also use JCE but I'm thinking about switching to JoomlaFCKEditor. The problem might be with the JCE configuration though, not CK Forms. Did you install all the CK Forms software? There are three:

1. com_ckforms-b2
2. mod_ckforms
3. plg_ckforms

If you're still having trouble a simple workaround is to clear the description field and insert the form in an article using {ckforms formname}. The article itself will contain the description which is placed above the form anyway.

Regards,
Allan.

I have the same problem.

I installed ckforms with all 3 components mentioned here.
Then I tried TinyMCE, JCE and FCK editors (I think all latest versions) and all show me the same rsult: no formatting on the text.

The workaround described here is no solution after I want to format also the text shown after a mail is sent.

I also played with the settings in the Joomla 1.5.14 configuration as described in a Wiki article. Nothing happens.

I am able to create the form and display it in the fron end but if I go back to Components-CK Forms to change or edit my forms, it is not listed. The database displays the forms but according to the backend there is none.

Hi,

I'm just a new user like you guys so sorry if I can't help much more than this.

@brandy: I don't know your specific situation but the workaround is still good because you can specify a URL for a "Thank You" page after CK Forms sends the mail. This is what I do and I'm happy with it. YMMV...

@waldominny: Can you create a simple 1 field form and see if that is not listed too? How about creating a form with the same name as the one that "disappeared"?

Allan.

ok, that is another workaround, but I think it is not what is was intended for.

I'm wondering that there are not more people having that problem.
Meantime I tried some other settings like changing Joomla language from german to english.

You're right...I'm sure the intention of the description and the message when the form is submitted is to do exactly what you say...

However, it seems that CK Form uses its own stylesheet which is different from your Joomla template's stylesheet so your text is going to look different no matter what....e.g. <h3> is of a different text size in my Joomla template's stylesheet than it is in the CK Form stylesheet. And that's the reason why I have my workarounds....

Maybe a future version of CK Form will use Joomla's stylesheet for non-form fields...

I'm not sure if it is a style sheet problem.

The HTML code is completly removed and the plain text is stored in the DB (without any fomats like <br>,<p> or <div>).

Even though CK uses its own styles a simple "new line" or "bold text" should be possible.

All HTML code is lost somewhere between clicking "Save" and the DB.

I solved this now.

The problem was that it does not work with PHP4. I switched now to PHP5 and it works fine.

Is this then the only way to fix the issue?

I am not sure if my ISP will upgrade to the required version.
