In the administrator panel to go to Components and in the Joomfish, so choose the Content elements and at the top of this page click on the Install button.

English language files are here.

Ahhh, I did not immediately understand that you have only one language.
Did you install the core Joomla Portuguese? If not, then you need to install in english language files for ckforms (by standard joomla installation procedure) and manually translate that language files.

pt-PT language pack can not be installed if the Joomla core does not have that language installed.

Is there also any way to make some fields of the forms shorter?

It seems that the problem is in your existing language files.
First, go to this page http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtranslation/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=174
download this files and (re)install:
pt-PT_joomla_lang_site.1.5.18.zip
pt-PT_joomla_lang_admin.1.5.18.zip

then, from ckforms pages, download and install this file "com_ckforms_pt-PT.zip"

Also, go to Admin panel, in Joomla, top bar, click Tools, Clear Cache.

Is there also any way to make some fields of the forms shorter?

Of course, when create each field, in the "Layout" tab you can assign separate CSS class and, naturally, you must write additional code under this class in the ckforms.css.
