Fields on the same line

I don't see having 2 fields on the same line being supported - every new field seems to wrap or <br> to a new line.

So... what, and where, is the file that holds the form information? I'm assuming it's a PHP but can't find which it is. And, secondly, having found it, am I going to be able to manually change the code to get 2 fields on one line?
