strange .js error with XHTML Suite

Postby sharky_46 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 6:54 pm

Hi, thanks for this great component; I like it ! I am running with joomla 1.5.14, my host is infomaniak.ch and my CK Form component is version 1.2.1.
However, I just have a small problem, I can contourn it but I should prefer to fix it. All is going right with CK Forms, except since I installed XHTML Suite WYSIWYG editor, I can not save, close, so I can not edit my forms too. I have contacted XHTML Suite support team and they can not or don't want to fix problem and help me. This is my ticket in their support forum :

Line number: 1
Message: doc.defaultView.getComputedStyle(doc.body, ) is null

Close this dialog

For the other error see image attachment. I change htaccess in more simple specially to fix XHTML Suite problems, so it can not come from this.
Does it come from a chmod of colorSwatch.js file ? However, I applied a 775 chmod for all XHTML Suite folder and .js file, so I don't understand where it come from ?more

CK Forms is a 3rd party component and we cannot support every 3rd party component, especially when the component uses non-standard features like the tab set that is displayed on the screenshot you provided.

Most probably the JavaScript that is utilized to create the tabs and/or other features of CK Forms interfers with the DOM (Document Object Model) and thus document objects get messed up for in2it.

Hi,

I understand, but the error doesn't come from CK Forms but from XHTML Suite, and why when I replace it by a standard WYSWYG editor like Tiny MCE, all is working fine ?
I think it comes from XHTML Suite javascript file...

moreHi,

yes, the error is raised by in2it but caused by CK Forms. As I explained before, CK Forms does not use the default tab function implemented in Joomla! but another one which incorporates functions that might interfer with in2it. It maybe be another script used by CK Forms but I can't tell as I don't know this component.

I am not the developer of Tiny MCE so i can't tell you why it is working with Tiny MCE.

XHTMLSuite in2it is working fine with any component that utilizes Joomla! default UI functions. There is a rich API available in Joomla! that provides UI elements for almost every need so it's arguable why the CK Forms developers don't use the default API functions for the User Interface.

XHTMLSuite in2it is tested and proven to work flawlessly with original Joomla! components and 3rd party components that are designed 'the Joomla! way' or are developed using best practice and coding standards.

Please understand that we cannot guarantee compatibility with every 3rd party component as we have no influence on their development.

Thank you for your understanding.

You can see in attachment the image with the error message.
I think I am going to upgrade to CK Forms 1.2 to 1.3.1, but I should prefer to wait a little before upgrading. Will there another version of 1.3.1 in next weeks ?
What do you think of my problem, where does it come from ? Could you help me to fix this error message ?
Thanks in advance, keep the good work,
Best Regards,
david

Hi,

I fixed some problems (maybe yours...) and I published a new release of CKForms (1.3.3 build 4)

I published too a patch, if you don't want to reinstall the component.

The new release and the patch are available at :
http://cookex.eu/download/download.php

Don't forget to backup your CKForms data (see manual) before uninstall the previous release.

Regards
