initial values from POST/GET request data ?

Hello,

is it possible to fill the form with initial values coming from GET/POST request data?
For example I have an external web page and I would like to put there a link to the form, and once the user clicks the link I would also like to fill the form with some user-specific data coming from that webpage.

If you have any other idea how to accomplish it, I will also appreciate it.
