Getting fields to auto fill with info from other forms

Sorry for not knowing terminology, but I'm super new here.

I'm making a series of forms for my company website. The first of which is "Customer info form."

After this is filled and submitted, I have another series of forms that need to pull much of the same info from this (or other) original form fields. For example, in a "Sale Info" form, if I enter the customer number, is there a way many of the fields could be auto filled from the info stored in the customer info form (Cust name, address, phone number, zip etc)?

Summary: I need to know if One form can be filled with info from another when specific (I don't want to say any) fields are filled (or selected - As in pick a user number from a drop down list *would be prefered*)

I understand fields would have to have the same labels or names or whatever, just how to get them to "talk" to each other?

Please help, I'm on a deadline to work this out.

Is this just too far out of a question, or something that can't be done? It's standard in form making programs on a computer, is there not a way to do it on the net? No one else has ever wished for this functionality?
